Ghosts of Loudoun Hill - Robert the Bruce, William Wallace

Both Robert Bruce and William Wallace fought significant engagements with the English early on in their respective careers at Loudoun Hill, East Ayrshire. Loudoun Hill is a very distinctive volcanic plug located near the head of the River Irvine, east of Darvel. At its foot ran the ancient Roman road linking the Clyde valley with the Ayrshire coast, making it a very strategic location.
